Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a FinOps Engineer based in India.

As a FinOps Engineer, you will lead cloud financial management initiatives across multi-cloud environments, driving cost visibility, optimization, and financial accountability at scale. In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineering, platform, and business teams to ensure cloud resources are used efficiently while supporting long-term operational excellence. You will combine strong analytical skills with technical expertise to identify savings opportunities, improve governance, and influence architecture decisions with a cost-conscious mindset. Alongside FinOps responsibilities, you will contribute to CloudOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) initiatives, gaining end-to-end visibility into the infrastructure you help optimize. This is an excellent opportunity for a cloud professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while delivering measurable business value in a collaborative, high-impact environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Own cloud cost reporting across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS), delivering weekly, monthly, and ad hoc financial dashboards for technical and business stakeholders.
  • Drive cloud cost optimization initiatives, including resource rightsizing, committed use and savings plan optimization, idle resource cleanup, storage lifecycle management, and network cost reduction.
  • Design, implement, and enforce cloud tagging strategies by defining governance standards, automating compliance, and resolving resource classification gaps.
  • Develop and maintain showback and chargeback models that provide teams with clear visibility and accountability for cloud spending.
  • Lead regular FinOps review meetings, presenting spending trends, identifying anomalies, explaining cost variances, and recommending optimization strategies.
  • Configure and maintain cloud budgets, forecasting models, anomaly detection, and proactive cost alerting mechanisms.
  • Partner with engineering and product teams to integrate cost optimization into infrastructure architecture and application design.
  • Support CloudOps and SRE activities, including cloud operations, infrastructure health monitoring, incident response, observability improvements, and Kubernetes cost efficiency initiatives.
  • Contribute to infrastructure optimization by improving Datadog dashboards and alerts, participating in post-incident reviews, and enhancing Kubernetes resource utilization and cost attribution.
  • Requirements

    • 7+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or related technical roles, including at least 3 years focused on FinOps, cloud cost management, or platform economics.
    • Strong hands-on experience with GCP cost management tools, including Billing Export, BigQuery cost reporting, GCP Recommender, and Committed Use Discount analysis.
    • Working knowledge of AWS cost management services such as Cost Explorer, Savings Plans, Trusted Advisor, and Cost Anomaly Detection.
    • Experience with Kubernetes, including node utilization, autoscaling, namespace-level cost allocation, and resource optimization.
    • Proficiency with Datadog for monitoring, observability, dashboards, and alert management.
    • Experience using Terraform to manage infrastructure and cost-related configurations through Infrastructure as Code.
    • Proven ability to deliver measurable cloud cost savings supported by data-driven optimization initiatives.
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate complex financial and technical insights into actionable recommendations.
    • Experience designing cloud tagging policies and cost allocation frameworks across multi-cloud environments.
    • Familiarity with Python or SQL for automation and cost analysis, along with visualization tools such as Looker or Grafana, is an advantage.
    • Experience with CloudZero, Apptio Cloudability, Istio, or FinOps Foundation (FOCP) certification is considered a plus.
    • Previous exposure to CloudOps or SRE practices is highly desirable.
    • Benefits

      • Competitive salary and comprehensive compensation package.
      • Opportunity to work with modern multi-cloud technologies across GCP and AWS.
      • Exposure to FinOps, CloudOps, and SRE practices within a collaborative engineering environment.
      • Career development opportunities with access to cutting-edge cloud technologies and best practices.
      • Inclusive and supportive workplace that encourages continuous learning and professional growth.
      • Opportunity to make a measurable impact on cloud efficiency, financial governance, and infrastructure performance.
      • Confidential and equal opportunity recruitment process.
