The Analytical Technologist will support scientific research and technology development by delivering high-quality analytical testing, method development, and technical insights. The role requires strong laboratory expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders.
- Perform safe and standards-compliant laboratory operations while contributing to a strong safety culture.
- Apply analytical chemistry expertise and surface analysis techniques to solve complex technical challenges across multiple technology areas.
- Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot advanced analytical instruments and laboratory equipment.
- Develop and optimize analytical methods to support research, innovation, and technology development activities.
- Plan and execute experimental activities, analyze results, and provide meaningful technical interpretations.
- Apply strong theoretical and practical laboratory knowledge to improve methodologies, processes, and equipment performance.
- Support analytical strategies aligned with organizational technology objectives and research priorities.
- Conduct testing and characterization activities across areas such as fuels, biofuels, hydrogen, feedstocks, and low-carbon technologies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable analytical insights and technical solutions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of experiments, methods, results, and laboratory practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across analytical operations and scientific workflows.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Science, or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience working with analytical laboratory techniques and experimental research environments.
- Hands-on experience with analytical instruments such as XRD, BET, UV/IR, TPR, GC, GCxGC, mass spectrometry, microscopy, or elemental analysis.
- Knowledge of catalyst characterization, product analysis, and interpretation of analytical results.
- Experience with analytical techniques for solid, liquid, or gas-phase materials is preferred.
- Strong understanding of laboratory practices, equipment operation, calibration, and safety procedures.
- Experience in chemistry, heterogeneous catalysis, materials science, or related fields is desirable.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to design experiments, interpret scientific data, and communicate findings clearly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a research environment.
